how to use the STANDING CALF Raise Machine to the best of my advantage?
i wanna start using the machine in order to make my calves really strong that they will help me jump higher(basketball)... like how many reps should i do? and sets at that?.should the weight be enough to tire me out at 10 reps? or at 20?.. please help!
The word on calf exercises is that because the job they do comes into play every time you take a step it will be necessary to do more reps to get them trained to their limit. This is to say that if you use a weight that you can only do 10 times it will probably be so heavy that you can't do the exercise correctly. I have found (for me anyway) that I can do some sets of really heavy calf raises then as I start to lose form I will drop some of the weight and continue on. I might even drop the weight 3 - 4 times until my legs feel like they are going to burst into flame. Be careful not you over train. Work into it at a smart pace. It's awful to try to walk around the next day with your legs screaming at you every step you take.
