POLL: What do you think is a Harder Sport? Cross Country or American Football?
I just want to see what everybody thinks. I personally think running is harder because it takes more endurance and there are no timeouts or anything. But maybe I'm just saying that because I'm a runner? What do you guys think? Thanks.

additionally, keep in mind, that in running, it's you against yourself. although there may be other runners. only YOU determine your time.
however in football, 11 men (most of them over 225 lbs) try to simultaneously exert their will on 11 other similar men, who are trying to do the converse. so it's not just a matter of athleticism. it's also a matter of wills. the sloping hill doesn't exert its will against you. it doesn't change it's slope or create a pothole.
try football for a year or two and then decide. good question though. at least you are trying to be unbiased.
(i'm actually more of a runner, than a football player.)
nick B (your running section answerer) has the luxury of "being in his own world". he hasn't ever tried both. i'd suggest that there are more people who've tried both sports and will answer "football is harder", than there are of the converse (those who've played both and answer "running is harder"). the body adapts over time to similar conditions. but again, unlike running, you can never totally adapt to a new opponent each week. besides, how many runners are there in the world at a competitive or semi-competitive level? i don't know, but a LOT more than there are football players. why is that? because it's HARDER to play football. generally speaking. eventually the argument will fold on itself if you start talking marathons and super marathons. but most of us are speaking generally. also, BOTH runners and football players get winded, and get tired and have to push themselves (albeit one is more endurance, and one is more "burst"), but runners hardly EVER have to absorb the momentum of a 260 lb linebacker flying at their neck, or a 300+ lb defensive tackle simply crushing them. just food for thought.
