Why do I have pain in both of my lower rib cages?
For some reason, every once in a while I get pain in my lower rib cages for some reason. It hurts when i talk, or when I try to flex my abdominal muscles. The days before theses pains i usually go through a lot of exercise such as running, could this be the cause? Should i go to the doctor or will it go away on its own?
The pain could be from costochondritis-- an injury to the rib cartilage. Patients often come into the ER with it. You can get it in the cartilage in the sternum or the sides of your ribs. Can happen during lifting something. If this is the cause the pain and injury will get better but try not to reinjure it. Try a rib belt if you can get ahold of one to see if the rib support helps.
