Why is my monitor displaying a black screen?
Hi - If anyone can help, my monitor displays black when the computer is on. I turn the computer on and the "windows display" appears on the screen ready to startup, but then it goes completely black. The light around the power button on the monitor is on, the lights on my keyboard show that the Num Lock and Caps Lock is on, but no images appear on the screen. The computer has been working just fine up until now. It is a Dell that is about 5 years old with an LCD monitor. Thanks!!
Your video driver probably was updated. You can try rebooting the PC hitting F8 and going to "Last Known Good Configuration" You can also try running a system restore to rollback to before you were having the issue. Finally you can reboot hit F8 boot into safe mode, go to control panel and system, go into the device manager double-click on the video card driver and roll it back to the previous version.
I do not think it is the monitor's connection since you would have not initially seen the Window's splash screen.
