How many chins ups is good for putting on strength? I do 3x10 on chin ups and pull ups. How many do you do?
I am interested in knowing how many chin ups and pull ups other ppl do? I put the chin ups and pull ups into an exercise plan, that includes arms, legs and chest. So I do it about every 5 days.
If strength is your concern, you need to hit pull ups really hard and allow yourself plenty of time to recover before doing them again. 5 days? Great. I do them about every 5 days myself and it works out perfectly.
You say you do 10 reps during a set, right? That’s fine if you’re hitting failure (meaning you can’t get 11), but it’s not very beneficial if you are just deciding to stop there. In other words, if you can do 10 easily, you need to add weight to your body (hang weight from a belt or place a dumbbell between your legs), so that you reach FAILURE at no more than 8 reps. 10 reps is fine, like I said, but the ideal rep range for adding strength is closer to 3-6 reps (and you will have a difficult time gaining ANY strength beyond 15-20 reps).
I would do at least 4 (up to
really intense sets reaching failure, waiting at least 3 minutes between each set. Your lats should be very sore the next day (the big muscles on the sides of your back than give the “v” shape) and you will need to eat well and wait until your are all healed up before doing any more.
If strength is what you’re after, try this out. I’ve experimented a lot and this is by far the most efficient method for achieving your goals.
