Are there any good (i.e. professional) alternatives to Flash - for complex interactions with databases etc?
I'm considering alternative methods of creating a website which currently is 100% Flash content. I've heard geed things about Open Source software but is it as good as Flash in every respect. I'm doing this because the new iPad (& iPhones) won't support flash content. Is there a REALLY good alternative? If not, do you think Apple have one up their sleeve to replace Flash if it's killed off?
There are many alternatives to Flash for database interaction but Flash is primarily a visual medium and not a db handler. There's not much in the way of a visual media alternative to Flash. Safari 5 and Safari for iOS 4 both support HTML5 so there's no need for Apple to have an alternative to Flash available when there's a universal non-proprietary alternative already available.
