How do your release tension from the pulley on a 1997 Grand Am?
We ran the belt around everything else first and left the alt for last, tried to use the tool from autozone to release it but there isn't enough room to get the tool in to turn it, we also tried to 'bump' it on, all to no avail. No one seems to know what else to do, can anyone please give me some advice that will work?
these cars are hard to get to,if you cant get that tool on it,can you get another similar tool on it,because the tension pulls back towards you,and sometimes there isn't enough room to get the tool in there,but that is the only way you,ll get the belt on it,is to release the tension,i have only did this a few times and its no fun at all,try getting the belt on everything on the bottom and see if you can get enough pull with the tool to get the rest of it on,good luck,maybe this will help.
