What is a good pet for a teenager?
I wanted to get a pet for my twin sister for our birthday. We are busy and we would take turns taking care of it, but I would want one that doesn't take a lot of exercise and cleaning up after. I was thinking or a hamster or something, but they are so hard to buy, because they can be mean. I thought about a puppy, but they are a lot of work. So can someone please help?
hamsters can be pretty messy, and while most (most syrians anyways) do calm down after a while, a bite can be pretty nasty and you need to put the time in to tame them. They arent particularly difficult to tame though 
you could look into reptiles
most species are docile and friendly - being very reluctant to bite and once used to you not quick to run away
They are very clean and quiet - no chewing on bars or throwing food and bedding out of the cage
As adults most only need to be fed 4 - 5 times a week. Less food means less poop to clean up
Most are very low maintenance animals and wont mind if you forget to give them a cuddle for a while
They dont need to be taken for a walk, or even let out of the tank (unless you want to take it out) since they are pretty 'lazy', but they are fascinating and relaxing to watch
and personally i think a nice vivarium looks better than a cage any day 
if you want one to handle, that is almost famous for its calmness around people, and that doesnt take up much space, look into leopard geckos.

they do eat insects though... if you can handle that but still want one with all the pros the leopard geckos have (including all the different colours) then crested geckos are a good option. These dont need as high as temperatures as leos, so depending on where you live you might not even need heating equipment. They can happily live off a complete powdered diet that rules out the need for insects
